Info

The Nonprofit Communications Network (NCN), a 501(c)3 membership organization, is a resource for both veteran and new nonprofit professionals who seek to enhance the success of their organizations through more effective media relations, marketing, publications and web-based communications. The only such organization focused on the nonprofit sector, NCN will help you to more effectively connect your message with your mission. NCN is the outgrowth of a highly successful seminar held in May 2000 - jointly sponsored by Bank of America Private Bank, the Kauffman Foundation and the Sosland Foundation - which brought together 94 area nonprofit executives and communications professionals with an expert in public relations and a diverse panel of local media pros to explore how nonprofit organizations can work most effectively with the press. We began with the basic question: "Are You Ready for Prime Time?" We ended by asking: "What do you need to excel?" The answers were loud and clear: "We need proven, practical ideas to help us to more effectively market our organization on a limited budget. . . . We want to grow professionally, but we don´t have time or money to waste. . . . We´d like to network more easily with our peers and with media pros, but we need an easy way to do it." A broad-based volunteer steering committee listened and began meeting over the next several months to address these concerns. The result is the Nonprofit Communications Network.
