Siege Perilous Films is an independent motion picture production company with roots in Minneapolis, MN, and members throughout the United States. Operating as a collaborative since its inception in 2001, Siege Perilous Films has been committed to creating films focusing on story, character, craft and aesthetics. While attending the University of Minnesota, James Buffington had the idea to make a film. He enlisted a friend, Eric C. Hedberg, to help write the story from which grew the screenplay for revisions. Knowing that he could not produce a film of the quality he envisioned on his own, James gathered a group of friends to assist him in realizing his college dream. Thus Siege Perilous Films was born. James helmed the first project as director and producer with Eric as a co-producer. Recording artist and audio engineer Andrew Thomas was brought in as the music producer, along with graphic designer Scott Lindberg as art director, and Farrah Norby as the production manager. What began as a concept for a script grew into a production company ... and ultimately an independent feature length film. In homage to Arthurian legend, Siege Perilous Films is committed to the ideal of the siege perilous. One seat at Camelot's legendary round table was to remain empty, reserved as a position of judgment. A person of pure character could occupy the seat unharmed, but if unworthy the seat proved to be fatal. With the Grail at stake only the best would do, and now the legend of the siege perilous molds the way we work, think, and act as a company. Is a concept worth pursuing? Is a script good enough? Is it a worthwhile project? All ideas are given an equal opportunity to thrive around our table, but only the most worthy survive. With revisions slated for completion in 2008, the company plans to work on a few smaller scale projects before beginning their next feature. In the future, Siege Perilous Films will continue to produce film and media projects with an attention to balance in story, artistry and quality.
