Info
Larry's List is an online Twin Cities job board founded by Dag Cox in August at http://www.larryslist.com. Larry is Cox's dog and the sole sponsor of the site. Cox bought http://www.getwork.com, a well-traveled piece of Web real estate, from Twin Cities Employment Weekly after the jobs publication folded in October and turned it into a site where you can not only get a lead on a job but also "buy and sell stuff", "get a date" and "get a life." The site is accessible by both domain names. But the question Cox gets asked most often is, "How do you make money?" Through paid employment ads, he says. It costs employers $25 for an ad to run 60 days. Some of the employers on the site include Gtech and General Mills. Since it was launched, Larry's List has had more than 400 employment ad postings. Everything else on the site is free. "It doesn't really cost that much to do what we do," Cox said. Larry's List shares an International Market Square office and has virtually no other overhead expenses. The goal for Larry's List is to be a place where people meet when they need something, he said. "We want to be the back fence that people talk over."
