The Bean Scene is the proud recipiant of the Specialty Coffee Associate of America's most prestigious award, the Golden Cup, for the past 4 consecutive years. We were the first in MLPS to recieve it in 10 years and the only cafe to hold the title for 4 years in a row. The Golden Cup award recognizes excellence in brewed coffee. It is awarded annually to those whose specialty coffee is properly ground and brewed. To be eligible for the award, the coffee must be prepared according to the SCAA's precise brewing standards. We serve only Specialty Coffee made in the Traditional Italian Method. Specialty coffee is a term that refers to the highest-quality green beans roasted by true craftspeople. It is defined as a coffee that has no defects and has a distinctive flavor in the cup.
