Info

Neff-Perkins Company was founded in 1946 by Charlie Neff and Tim Perkins in Perry, Ohio where they compression and transfer molded rubber product. Day-to-day operations were run by Charlie where the company primarily produced Engine Seals. Charlie grew the business by adding thin walled diaphragms for the controls market, reservoir diaphragms and brake cups for the automotive industry, and wiper blades for the replacement market. In late 1979, a French Company made an offer to Charlie for the wiper blade business. After the sale of the wiper blade business, Charlie was ready to retire. At this point, Engineering and Production Manager Bob Elly Sr. put a group of seven key employees together to purchase the company. Shortly after the purchase of the company, new President and CEO Bob Elly Sr. made the decision to open up a second facility in Middlefield , Ohio to allow for company growth. The new management group then made the decision to develop an injection molding process that would reduce current cost, as well as, allow them to diversify into other industries. In 1990, Neff-Perkins began to receive a large number of inquiries on HVAC heater doors that were Thermoplastic rubber over-molded onto a plastic carrier. Due to the large number of inquires, the company made the decision to develop a plastic injection molding process. In 1995 a facility was opened in Austinburg , Ohio to manufacture plastic products. This division is known as "N/P Plastics". In early 1999, by customer request, Neff-Perkins made the decision to develop a polyurethane foam injection molding process for sound deadening and wire seal applications. During the development of this process, the recession hit and sales began to drop. We continued to develop the polyurethane foam process and it was complete and ready for production in 2001. In 2002, we received a request to produce intake manifold gaskets (plastic carrier gaskets with a silicone seal bead) for the automotive replacement market. The initial tool was built and product was being produced. Soon after, several more requests came in. At this point, the decision was made to develop a liquid silicone injection molding process to reduce our molding costs. Neff-Perkins is one of the few remaining privately held companies with Bob Elly Sr. as the sole remaining owner from the purchase of the company from Charlie Neff. Bob has since added nine new owners to the organization all of which are key employees. Neff-Perkins continues to pursue new technology to stay ahead of the competition and allow us to provide our customers with quality products, on time, at a reasonable price.
