Founded in 1947, Hill Top Research is one of the world's leading clinical research services companies with research centers throughout North America. Hill Top Research provides services including clinical research, microbiology, and CRO services for the health care, personal care and oral care industries. In July 1947, Hill Top Research opened its doors in Cincinnati, Ohio. Its founder, Bob Quisno, formerly of the Wm. S. Merrell Company, performed its first tests including water analyses for a food company and clinical analyses for a pair of doctors. Having expanded into the fields of animal toxicology and clinical testing, the company quickly outgrew its original facilities and in 1954 moved to the Cincinnati suburb of Miamiville, the site of its current corporate office, dental and microbiology departments. Establishing the company as a technical leader, Hill Top employees helped develop the standards for antiperspirant testing and Repeat Insult Patch Tests. Hill Top also began providing Phase I drug studies and other drug evaluation services by the early 1960s. In December 1969, Hill Top became a wholly-owned subsidiary of American Biomedical Corporation. By 1975 the subsidiary grew into several locations including sites in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and even West Germany. In 1978, after the sale American Biomedical to Revlon, a small group of investors bought back the company. In 2006, the company was purchased by DW Health Care Partners. Today, Hill Top operates sites in Cincinnati, Ohio; Scottsdale, Arizona; St. Petersburg, Florida and Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Hill Top's four locations provide clinical research, microbiology and CRO services for some of the world's leading health care, personal care and oral care companies.
