Miami-Dade AHEC (Area Health Education Center), Inc. is uniquely qualified to lead coalitions and has led many efforts since its inception in 1987. It is inherent in our mission, work, and organizational structure to facilitate community linkages in an impartial and bi-partisan way that allows for diverse segments of the community to bring varying needs and resources to the table. This facilitates true collaboration in addressing issues in ways that are creative and innovative. The collaborative partnerships that the Miami-Dade AHEC has formed since its incorporation in 1987 encompass a continuum of constituents ranging from individual students, practitioners, and community members, to educational institutions, community clinics/agencies, and social service and religious organizations. Since its creation, Miami-Dade AHEC has served the community through its innovative, progressive, and collaborative style of approaching the community's healthcare needs. Miami-Dade AHEC strives to improve access to health care for uninsured, economically needy, and other medically underserved individuals and to provide innovative preventive health programs for the children and adults in the community.
