Info
FIGHTERTOWN was developed and designed to be an online aircraft museum, showcasing the aircraft that was once housed at the Combat Jets Flying Museum in Houston Texas. The museum was founded in 1983 . The fact that F-86 Sabres were being converted into U.S. Navy jet fighter targets led the museum to the purchase of a Canadair F-86 Sabre that was returned to flying condition. At this time, The Combat Jets Flying Museum was born. During the next five years, the museum acquired many additional jets and became a nonprofit, educational foundation. Fitertown.com is devoted to the historical preservation and celebration of high performance, jet powered flight. The site was developed to continue the trend. The site utilizes the same corporate color scheme that consists of red and white with blue trim that was used on the first of the aircraft that became part of the museum. Following the initial jets, it was determined that people preferred the military paint scheme and thus reverted back. FIGHTERTOWN has continued the mission of the original physical museum by devoting itself to filling in the gaps in aviation history by assembling a broad range of jet aircraft in a spectacular fashion. FIGHTERTOWN was born as a showcase for the aircraft that was once a part of the physical museum, but has grown with technological advances of the new millennium to provide multiple-user access to a global computer information network. The goal is to continue to move forward in the future while preserving the past.
