Leader Ventures is a private investment firm providing debt and equity financing to a diversified portfolio of early and late stage, private companies. Venture lending was first introduced in the mid 1980's. The structure is a combination of debt and equity involving the provision of both secured loans and warrants ("venture debt"). Venture debt is best suited for venture-backed companies that require some infrastructure for product development, product commercialization or revenue growth. The blend of debt and equity offers the company greater flexibility than traditional bank debt and a lower cost of capital than straight equity. In general, venture debt is designed to leverage a company's equity and extend its runway to the next equity financing event.
