PowerDsine's Compatible Products Program ensures seamless Ethernet terminal compatibility and interoperability with the PowerDsine integrated and midspan products. Lucent Microelectronics (now Avaya) was the first company to obtain certification for its Internet Protocol (IP) Phone-On-A-ChipÔ chip set demonstration board. Since, other companies have submitted their products and received certification, such as: Alcatel, Ascom, Ericsson, Mitel, Siemens, Avaya, Unidata, Snom, TipTel and Intermec. What Power over Ethernet products are currently available? PowerDsine has two categories of product offerings to deliver power over converged networks. The first is for engineers looking to design power directly into the switch via a single inline pin package solution. This offers Ethernet Switch vendors a new embedded IEEE 802.3af compliant, Power over Ethernet Single Inline Package (SIP) that is easily integrated into Ethernet switches. The chips are available in two sets - the PD-IM-7124 (supporting 24 ports) and the PD-IM-7148 (supporting 48 ports) - are easily integrated and require minimal footprint in both existing and future Ethernet switch designs. The second are Midspan devices for those looking to send reliable, uninterrupted power over their existing legacy networking switches. PowerDsine offers mid-span Power Hubs, with 1,6,12 or 24 output ports, connected in cascade to the Ethernet Switch/Hub (the first products of their kind to come to market). In April 2002, PowerDsine announced a second generation mid-span product line featuring the PowerView SNMP Management System, providing IT managers with the means of remotely supervising, configuring, monitoring and controlling all Power over Ethernet products.
