Wild Rice Electric Cooperative Inc. is a consumer owned utility that was organized in October 1939 to provide electric and utility based services to its customers in northwestern Minnesota. Wild Rice Electric is a retail power supplier, which owns and maintains over 3800 miles of distribution lines in a 3200 square mile service area. The cooperative receives its wholesale power from Minnkota Power Cooperative headquartered in Grand Forks North Dakota.
