The American Needlepoint Guild, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, is an educational, non-profit group whose purpose is educational and cultural development through participation in and encouragement of interest in the art of needlepoint. In 1998 the ANG started an annual auction to serve as a fund raising event at the National Seminar in San Diego. Since then the ANG Board of Directors has designated the net proceeds of the annual auctions to fund national educational projects and to enhance existing ANG programs. It is our hope that the ANG Auctions will also serve as a means to better establish the value of needlepoint items. Through the years our members have found it to be a rewarding experience to contribute by volunteering to stitch special projects or donate finishing or needlepoint-related items that were auctioned to benefit the entire organization. Outstanding needlepoint pieces have been completed by the ANG Board of Directors and ANG Life Patron members. Seminar "First Timers" (members who have attended a national seminar for the first time) have been asked to help stitch and the response has been tremendous. ANG Chapters and the five regional areas of the ANG (Eastern, North Central, South Central, South Eastern, and Western) have contributed special projects that have been stitched by members-at-large and chapter members in their particular area that are auctioned at the National Seminar. Many merchants, artists, writers, publishers and individuals have also participated by donating items, finishing and/or funds to the ANG Auctions, and have let us know that it has been a fruitful experience for them. Special donations from "retired shop owners" and other individuals who wanted their needlepoint "stash" to go to a good cause have greatly enhanced the offerings at the annual American Needlepoint Guild Auctions.
