Conney Safety Products was founded in 1946, in Ripon, Wisconsin as an extension of a family retail clothing store. Nat Conney, the founder of Conney Safety Products, saw an unfulfilled need for specialty clothing and safety products after receiving several requests from the food processing firms in the area. As a result, he turned his retail clothing business in a new direction - safety products. The product line in the early years included aprons, gloves, rubber footwear, and rainwear that were sold to area canneries, meat and poultry processors and dairies. By 1952, Nat's son, Marv Conney, had taken over the family business. The retail store was closed, the business was relocated to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and Conney expanded its personal safety equipment product lines. The company extended its market focus to include industrial factories along with food processing plants in an increasing geographical area. In the early 1960's, first aid products were added to the product offering as the company continued its trend of providing head-to-toe safety protection. Conney Safety Products relocated again in 1964, this time to Madison, Wisconsin, centralizing its headquarters to its major trading area. Conney has recognized for a long time that there are many ways to serve its customers. That led to the launch of its first catalog of safety and first aid products in 1979. Using catalogs to reach customers allowed Conney to expand its coverage to a national scope. In the 1980's, Conney Safety Products continued to expand and improve its customer service capabilities by adding a team of telephone sales representatives dedicated to serving key accounts and industries. The 1990's brought tremendous growth to the product line and expansion of our warehouse and office facilities. Fostering that growth was improved abilities in electronic business methods and warehousing logistics systems, which enabled Conney to provide world-class service to its growing customer base. In October 1998, Conney joined forces with K + K America, a holding company of U.S. and Canadian business-to-business distributors. Using the combined business power of the K + K family, Conney Safety Products has been able to improve on operations and fulfillment efficiencies to raise customer service levels to industry leading levels. Today, Conney Safety Products continues to fulfill the dreams of Nat and Marv Conney by being America's "Safety Problem Solver" and by providing the services and expertise American businesses need to keep their workers safe and productive.
