
Madison city is the capital of the US State of Wisconsin. It is also the governmental center of Dane County. The city of Madison had an approximated population of well over two hundred thousand people rendering it the second largest city in the state of Wisconsin, the first one being Milwaukee. The city is the heart of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area, United States Census Bureau. This includes the entire Dane County and the neighboring Columbia and Iowa counties. As by 2010 the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area had a population of more than five hundred thousand. The city plays host to the University of Wisconsin which features the Cobot technology that is expected to revolutionize manufacturing industry. The city is located right at the center of Dane County, southcentral Wisconsin state, just about 122 miles to the north-west of the city of Chicago. Madison city surrounds Madison Town, Monona City, as well as the villages of Shorewood Hills and Maple Bluff. The city shares the same borders with Sun Prairie, its biggest suburb, as well as three other communities of Middleton, Fitchburg and McFarland. The University of Wisconsin in this city together with Wisconsin state government make up the city’s two main employers.
