Melinda Taylor and Associates is a landscape architecture firm based in Los Angeles. We provide and coordinate comprehensive landscape design services associated with all phases of a project, from conceptual design through construction and long-term maintenance. We design gardens of all sizes and complexities for civic, community, and residential clients. Our designs respond to the particulars of each project-they evolve through understanding of our clients, their sites, and their budgets. We establish collaborative relationships with our clients in order to create spaces that not only satisfy our clients' requirements, but also exceed their highest expectations. We use our extensive experience in all aspects of landscape design and installation to ensure that the process is as clear, cost effective, and enjoyable as possible, and that the result is of the highest quality. Thoughtful selection and arrangement of plants is fundamental to our garden designs. We are known for our extensive knowledge of plants and horticulture. We create distinctive plant palettes specific to each garden we design. Currently, Melinda Taylor is teaching Advanced Planting Design at UCLA Extension, Department of Landscape Architecture. One significant function of good gardens is that they express the connection between culture and nature. In urban areas, where there is an imbalance between nature and human activity, gardens can help to restore a balance between the two. Gardens can, no matter how small, remind us that the spaces in between and surrounding our buildings are important. MTA strives to create gardens that respond to their place in both the physical and cultural worlds, and that promote the idea of balance between these two realms; outdoor spaces that respect the environment, attract and support wildlife, delight the senses, and stimulate the mind.
