Established in 1992, Pragmatic Software began as a consulting services company, providing project management and software architecture expertise to large clients like Microsoft, Teletech, and SAIC. After years of consulting to large clients, most consulting engagements required a collaborative solution that allowed tracking of all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC). However, existing vendors provided "niche" products that managed certain phases of the SDLC, requiring multiple vendor products to manage all phases of the SDLC. This approach was costly and did not provide an integrated solution for the client. In response to this demand, Pragmatic Software developed a set of web based solutions that managed all phases of the SDLC (analysis, design, coding, testing and production support). To meet the demands of different clients, Pragmatic Software offers the solution in 2 versions. The ASP version is hosted by Pragmatic Software, eliminating all hardware costs and allowing the client to pay a monthly fee for the service, with no long term commitment. Licenses range from $20 to $35 per month per concurrent user. The ASP solution is a great offering for small to mid-size clients that are cost conscious and have limited Information Technology resources. Larger clients demand more flexibility and the desire to host the solution on their servers. For those clients, Pragmatic offers the Enterprise solution. This solution is fully branded to the client, offers Microsoft Outlook® Synchronization, Crystal Reports® integration, full API support, and many other advanced features. Licenses range from $1000 - $1600 per concurrent user (one-time fee), along with an 18% annual maintenance fee. Pragmatics' larger clients include Procter and Gamble, AMD, Acer Computers, and Giorgio Armani. Pragmatic Software has over 60,000 subscribers using the software in over 24 countries.
