Arkansas Spanish Interpreters & Translators (ASIT) was founded in 1995 by Estela Mendoza. At the time, ASIT operated with only 2 employees. The location was the basement of her home. ASIT thrived over the years, and soon the location became cramped. ASIT had to relocate to 1215 Breckenridge Drive. ASIT provided not only interpretation and translation services, but also held classes for people to learn Spanish. The classes were a new part of the company known as Arkansas Institute of Languages (AIOL). This new location gave AIOL the ability to hold classes during office hours and at night, it had 2 classrooms, and 4 offices. Soon ASIT's employees grew to 5 employees and the offices became cramped again. In 2003, we moved to 100 N. Rodney Parham Rd., Suite 1C. In 2005, AIOL became a completely separate non-profit company. It has 5 employees and 6 classrooms. It has grown to teaching all languages, and more information can be found at www.ArkansasInstituteOfLanguages.org. Now, ASIT has over 150 interpreters and over 50 translators on staff. We have become a statewide company and are becoming a national company for written translations. All of our Spanish interpreters are tested by the owner, Estela Mendoza, who is a federally and state certified court interpreter. All of our other language interpreters are either native speakers or have had schooling in their native countries. All of our translators are tested and are certified.
