After 17 years of love and hard labor in the furniture business, we have made the difficult decision that we must close Abizak's as of September 29th, 2007. Over the last few years - even before the move to Fenwick - business had been a struggle. Recent market forces have not been kind to the furniture industry, and while we held out great hope that things would take a positive turn, they have not. Looking ahead at a stagnant economic forecast, and taking stock of where we are right now, we have reached the point where it would be irresponsible to carry on as Abizak's any longer. In short, it is time to let it go ... For many of you Abizak's has been what has defined our family. You've known us as "John and Pam from Abizak's" since before you really even knew us as John and Pam. Ever since the first customer walked up to us in the grocery store and said "Hey, aren't you the people from that funky store on the Avenue? It's the coolest!" we've felt a great responsibility to keep the business vital, upbeat and vibrant in order to honor your excitement and dedication to our tiny (but big at heart) family business. And, in that role as caretakers of Abizak's and its 17 years of memories, we recognize it is time - as gracefully as we possibly can - to turn out the light.
