Tim Fortier, Managing Director - Tim began his career in the securities industry over twenty years ago as a representative for Stifel Nicolaus. As a broker there he emphasized the importance of using institutional strategies to manage his clients' portfolios. In 1993, as an independent broker, Tim began his search for an approach that could securely manage risk while dynamically responding to the trends and fluctuations in the markets. As a result of years of research and innovation, Tim relies on his risk-managed approach to portfolio management while constantly integrating new research and uncovering investment opportunities. After a decade of running his own advisory practice, Tim merged his growing financial practice with the family office of Castle Financial Advisory, which emphasized comprehensive wealth management. In 2001, under Tim's guidance as Chief Investment Officer, the firm doubled its assets in less than three years and continues to enjoy growth today with assets under management in excess of $150 million. In 2003 Tim founded Westmark Capital Management, LLC, an institutional money management firm specializing in absolute return, risk managed strategies. Westmark's success was demonstrated when the company was hired in 2006 to manage a hedge fund for a large Chicago-based alternative-investments company. Today, Westmark continues to manage hedge funds as well as providing separate account management for fee-based financial advisors. Tim is a regular guest on Bloomberg Radio and was previously the host of "Focus on Finance," a monthly listener call-in show which aired for five years on public radio. His articles on investing have appeared in various media sources and he has been recognized for his success in asset management. Tim is an affiliate member of the Market Technicians Association (MTA) and holds a Series 6, 7, and 24 with the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD). In addition to his roles in Westmark, Tim is currently registered with JVB Financial Group, an institutional fixed-income broker-dealer, where he specializes in developing new and innovative structured products.
