Based in Stoke-on-Trent, England, Goodwin Steel Castings Ltd. has been a supplier of machined castings for 125 years. The foundry, with 160 employees, is supported by its sister company, Goodwin International Ltd., located 5km away which carries out machining, fabrication and assembly work on the castings produced by the foundry. The Goodwin machine shop employs some 270 people in its modern CNC machining facility. Goodwin has traditionally won many large orders, in the range of a half to twenty million pounds in value for machined castings or assembled components. These individual orders are invariably for large construction projects or for major equipment builders which, in both instances, need on-time delivery of assured high integrity products. Quotations are never made without an engineering evaluation in terms of castability and machinability being carried out. It is for this reason that we are not competitive as a jobbing shop, making one-off castings. Goodwin excels on the large projects at optimising casting shape, casting and machining techniques to produce world-competitive pricing and assured quality, prior to quoting. Goodwin is unique within the foundry industry in putting in so much work with no guarantee of an order, but by doing so we minimise risk both for ourselves and our customer. This site provides illustrations of our skill and ability in supplying machined castings from 200kg to 10,000kg and assemblies up to 50,000kg in materials from carbon steel through to super nickel alloys such as Inconel type 625.
