The Catalyst Foundation's state-licensed Bartz-Altadonna Memorial Clinic provides comprehensive primary medical care for low-income, uninsured, and homeless persons, as well as state-of-the-art treatment of all stages of HIV and Hepatitis C (HCV), including early access to new medications as well as clinical trials. Services are available to clients co-infected with HIV and HCV, as well as those infected with HIV or HCV only. Our Staff Physician, Dr. Emery Chang is a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, and completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Tulane University. Board-certified in internal medicine, he was a clinical instructor/research fellow at UCLA's Center for AIDS Research and Education; he also served as an HIV Clinical Mentor for the Ruli District Hospital in Rwanda. Proficient in HIV/AIDS care as well as primary medical care for non-HIV-infected persons, Dr. Chang also sees patients at the UCLA Primary Care Network, Cedars-Sinai Medical Group of Beverly Hills, the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, and Valley Community Clinic. Darrell Lind, P.A-C., M.P.H., Catalyst's Clinic Coordinator, provides medical care to patients under the supervision of Executive Director Dr. Susan Lawrence. Darrell holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara and his M.P.H and M.S.H.S. degrees from George Washington University. His past experience includes radiology and laboratory technology, as well as substance abuse treatment, which is particularly applicable to our target population. For three years he managed a residential treatment facility. Before coming to Catalyst, he also served as a research assistant at the District of Columbia Primary Care Association where he wrote white papers, sat on committees and engaged in Medicare research for this nonprofit organization, which is dedicated to making healthcare accessible to underserved populations. Darrell has special expertise in the care of HIV/HCV co-infected patients, and is an AAHIVM Certified Specialist.
