Southern Crop Insurance was founded in the early 1980's by Lowell Shortes. The agency was a pioneer in the development of computer software for crop insurance sales. In 1986, Nickey Smith became head of the agency, continuing sales and service to the area's farmers while working to refine software for the industry. We are located in Dawson County between Lubbock and Midland on the high plains of Texas, which covers over two million acres of cotton. Crop insurance is our only business and providing superior service to our customers is always our goal.
