Info
Douglass Screen Printers announces the beginning of a new collection at the Polk Museum of Art honoring the late Thomas Kaiser. President and CEO Lisa Kaiser Hickey began funding the Douglass Screen Printers Serigraphy Collection, which will be comprised of signature screen prints (serigraphs). Serigraphy as an art form has progressed from the earliest cave illustrations created from pigment blown through reeds around a hand to the Chinese development of tusche and glue resists to this era's photographic creation of a stencil on silk fabric. The screen printing industry owes a debt to artists such as Andy Warhol, whose posterized images popularized screen printing as a viable commercial medium. In support of this fine collection, Douglass has pledged to continue funding over the next five years to enhance the development of the collection, perpetuating the artistic legacy of Thomas Kaiser, the team of Douglass Screen Printers and the screen printing industry. Douglass Screen Printers is located in Lakeland, Florida. Founded in 1964 as a commercial screen printer, the company's team of dedicated and diverse artisans produce screen and digitally printed decals, posters, banners, signs, tags, vehicle wraps, and nameplates. Corporate products are sold domestically and internationally to companies interested in maintaining a premier position in their markets. Douglass is certified by NWBOC, WBENC, 3M, the State of Florida, and the U.S. Government Printing Office in a variety of areas. The company is a generous patron of the arts and the Lakeland business community.
