What is a VAR? Like high-tech matchmakers, value-added-resellers, also called channel partners, act as a liaison between manufacturers and users. They help customers home in on the right products, and help vendors expand their markets - all the while saving everyone a lot of time, effort and expense. A small business has a technology problem and a big manufacturer has a cutting-edge solution. Yet all too often, the two companies aren't able to find each other. Smaller businesses typically don't have the resources to research every high-tech product that could possible increase their efficiency. At the same time, manufacturers often don't have the resources to market directly to smaller-scale users. That's where value-added resellers, or VARs, come in.
