Info

CityForest Corporation has owned and operated the mill since1993. The mill has seen many changes and improvements in technology and equipment since the first paper machine was installed in 1902. The latest of which was the installation of a new, state-of-the-art, 2-layer tissue machine and deinking plant in 1999, both supplied by Voith-Sulzer. Ladysmith was a rapidly growing "boomtown" at the time due to the burgeoning lumber and paper industries. Ladysmith surged in population from 100 at the turn of the century to more than 1,700 just five years later. In 1902, Menasha Paper Company constructed the original mill on a sweeping bend of the Flambeau River in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. At the turn of the century, paper was produced for Sears and Roebuck Co. catalogs and Chicago telephone directories. The early paper machines were large multi geared mammoths, with several hand adjusted gears. Except for brief periods of inactivity during the Depression and short shutdowns during changes in ownership, the mill has been in continuous operation since 1902.
