TeamHealth Teleradiology (THTR) was founded in 1991, in Durham, North Carolina, by a group of physicians from Duke University. At that time, the centralized interpretative services group offered reading expertise in MRI and CT for rural physicians who lacked access or experience in these modalities. The group provided 24-hour-a-day coverage, including nights and weekends. THTR was the first and the largest teleradiology company of its kind. THTR was acquired by TeamHealth in 1997. Founded in 1979, TeamHealth has gained unparalleled experience in providing clinical outsourcing services. TeamHealth currently serves more than 600 clients, creating a broad experience base with a wide variety of facilities from community hospitals to teaching facilities and Level I trauma centers. TeamHealth serves more than 9 million patients annually through 7,000 healthcare professionals and administrative employees. With more than 17 years in the teleradiology business, THTR has evolved its business model. Initially, we offered supplemental staffing for hospitals in rural areas. Today, THTR provides a better quality of life for radiologists across the country.
