Hap Taylor founded the company in 1968 as a local civil construction company specializing in residential site development. The business was reorganized and incorporated as Hap Taylor and Sons, Inc. in 1987 and expanded into aggregate sources, asphalt, and concrete, as well as all types of civil construction services on a regional basis. HTS has grown steadily and now manages over $100 million in construction and materials operations annually. HTS is based in Bend, Oregon. In 1998 HTS was acquired by Bismarck, N.D. based, Knife River Corporation (KRC), one of the nation's largest, publicly traded construction and construction materials companies. KRC is a subsidiary of MDU Resources Group, Inc., which is a public company listed on the NYSE. In 2004 HTS expanded its operations into Idaho with the acquisition of Masco. Masco is based in Boise and has operations as far north as McCall. In 2005 HTS further expanded its Idaho operations by acquiring Norm's Utility Contractor. Norm's is headquartered in Coeur d'Alene and also serves the Spokane, Washington area. HTS is continuing to look for expansion opportunities throughout the Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain states in order to be able to serve the needs of our clients.
