Polaris staff have provided technical and scientific support for marine and land spills on five continents since 1970, including the Exxon Valdez, American Trader, Mega Borg, "Desert Storm", and the 1995 Komi pipeline oil spills in Russia. Polaris staff are recognized internationally and have been responsible for developing many of the technical support procedures that today are a routine part of spill response management. We focus on providing innovative and cost-effective solutions. The technical services that we typically provide on a spill response include:Development of response priorities and strategies Aerial reconnaissance and videotape surveys and mapping (linked to GPS units) Shoreline, river, and pipeline (SCAT) surveys Cleanup and treatment guidelines and recommendations Natural resource damage assessment, claims and compensation support Habitat restoration (including coral, sea grass, mangrove, and dune environments)
