Since 1940, Keys Federal Credit Union has been known for local service by local people - people who live or work with people we all know. Keys Federal Credit Union was founded in 1940 in Key West, when a group of naval station employees receive a federal charter and founded NAVSTA Federal Employees Credit Union. At this time membership was open only to Civil Service employees. In 1958 the charter was amended to include the military personnel serving the area, and a few years later the name was changed to Navy KWest Federal Credit Union to reflect the new membership. Due to a reduction of military personnel in the 70's the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) authorized Navy Kwest to become community chartered in 1977 and in 1994 the Credit Union received approval to expand its services throughout the Florida Keys. At that time the name was changed to Keys Federal Credit Union. Today we serve close to 15,000 of our neighbors throughout the Keys, and we have a well-deserved reputation for friendly service, financial strength, safety and performance.
