Hillside is a partner with Honduras Outreach in the Model Village Program. Through this we sponsor a specific village and visit every year to help them improve their living conditions through helping them build latrines, put cement floors in their homes or chimneys on their clay ovens. Through our sponsorship Honduras Outreach also works with the village during the year to teach them how to grow nutritious food, and help to provide access to clean water and health care. The best part of what we do, however, is not the work, but the relationships we build through our visits each year. We are able to get to know families in another culture, and realize that they are not that much different from our families. We are able to play with children who don't get to play very much, and show them that someone out there in the world knows them and loves them. This year we will help to build a school that will provide those children with a way to have choices for the future and ensure that this generation is the first where the majority will be able to read and write. Rincon Grande, the village where we will work and whose people we know, needs our prayers all the time. At times they are living on the edge of survival. Our team leaves June 14th and will need many prayers: Pray for health and safety Pray for the ability to do the work that God has planned for the team there, whatever it may be.
