In the 1960s, James Masiello founded and ran The Masiello Agency, a thriving insurance company that offered a range of products to area individuals and businesses. Real estate was a natural progression in his endeavor to serve the community, and by the mid-1970s, The Masiello Agency formally extended their services to home buyers and sellers. In 1978, The Masiello Agency became an affiliate of ERA Real Estate-and it wasn't long before the Masiello organization became a regional leader. Masiello's entrepreneurial son, Christopher J. Masiello, who had earned his real estate license when he was just 19, joined his father's company in 1981. By 1986, he became the office's sales manager. That same year, The Masiello Agency became The Masiello Group, and went on to become one of the Monadnock region's largest home building and development companies. Through numerous mergers and acquisitions in the years that followed, The Masiello Group became one of the country's top real estate companies-with 30+ offices serving more than 170 communities.
