For over 100 years, the Kankakee Public Library has provided for the informational, educational, and recreational needs of the people of Kankakee. As we enter our second Century of Reading, and the new millennium, we are renewing our commitment to provide high quality library service. We are striving to make information in all formats accessible and affordable to all Kankakee's citizens, thus encouraging and promoting reading and literacy. To provide a safe, comfortable and pleasant place to read, we expect everyone who enters our facility to comply with the following guidelines:To be courteous to and respectful of other patrons, staff, and library property. To use our facility and property as it is intended - for reading, research or quiet study. To use a soft voice when conversing to help us maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning. To avoid loitering in the stairways, hallways, and entryways. To understand that children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult over the age of 18 when visiting our library. To enjoy food and beverages in the cafe' arae, and to wear appropriate clothing when visiting our library. To be considerate of others and to abide by the time restrictions on computers and other equipment. Please let a staff person know if your library experience is not meeting your expectations. Whether you are having difficulty finding a specific title or information on a topic, or if another patron's behavior is disruptive, we want to help solve the problem. We want to ensure that your visit to our library is a pleasant and productive one for you and your family.
