Juneau Youth Services provides outpatient treatment services for youth up to age 18 who are abusing drugs and alcohol. Youth are able to access this program through the Juneau Youth Services Assessment Center (789-4733). The program offers group counseling, individual counseling, family counseling, and case management that, prescribed individually or in combination, offer a comprehensive outpatient treatment system. Group counseling sessions are provided on location at the High School and Middle Schools to ensure accessibility to students. Individual counseling sessions may also be provided at school. The only one of its kind in Juneau, this program also provides services to youth who are diagnosed with co-occurring chemical dependency and mental health disorders. Chemical dependency services are provided, in part, by a grant from the State of Alaska, Division of Behavioral Health. In cooperation with the Juneau Effective Prevention Project and the Juneau School District, the agency also offers student assistance services in the High School and two Middle Schools through a grant from the Juneau School District.
