Description of Integrated Software Systems

Integrated Software Systems is a Tennessee based consultancy founded in 1996 by Lamont C Gilliland. Lamont received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Clemson University in 1983. While attending Clemson, Lamont worked at the Milliken & Co. Research facility located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Through the cooperative education program, Lamont provided engineering support to numerous Milliken plant locations in the southeast US. Lamont worked with the first release of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) from Texas Instruments offering PID loop control algorithms. His efforts included the software development of a prototype recipe management and download system that interfaced with plant PLCs, and is still in use to this day. Upon graduating in 1983, Lamont joined Texas Instruments, Industrial Systems Division, as a software engineer in Johnson City, Tennessee. Lamont gained extensive knowledge and background in process control and factory automation through the design, implementation, and commissioning of turn-key sytems for high-profile clients, such as: Exxon, Dupont, Eastman, the New York Port Authority, Texas Eastern, and others. As a Technical Lead Engineer, he architected an object-oriented design methodology for PLC programs that were responsible for running Exxon's flagship lube blending facility located in Port Allen, Louisianna. Lamont later presented this design approach to Texas Instruments' Engineering Council. Following Siemen's acquisition of the Texas Instruments division in Johnson City, Lamont co-founded Paragon Control Systems in 1992. Paragon designed and commissioned numerous industrial automation systems for clients including: Tropicana Products, Baxter Pharmacueticals, Siemens Energy & Automation, UNIMIN Corporation, and others. Paragon successfully designed and deployed a prototype PLC/servo control system for Baxter's glove stripping operation in Johnson City, Tennessee. This application represented the first successful implementation of its kind anywhere in the world and was later incorporated into their Malaysian operations. In 1996, Lamont left Paragon to start Integrated Software Systems in order to focus exclusively on software engineering and emerging technologies, including the Internet. He has provided software engineering services to customers including: UNIMIN Corporation, Baxter Healthcare, Cimtek Commerce, Rollins Capital Management, Nuclear Fuel Services, the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), and others. In 1998, Lamont became a prinicipal of Cimtek Commerce, Inc. as their Chief Technology Officer. Cimtek Commerce was an Internet-based provider of medical supplies to doctors' offices, and a B2B (Business-to-Business) technology provider to medical equipment and supply manufacturers and their distributors. Lamont was responsible for the design and support of their technology platform and infrastructure, including the management of 18 IT professionals. In early 2000, Cimtek Commerce was acknowledged by CISCO Systems and Modern Healthcare publication as a recipient of their Innovation in Health Care Information Technology Award in Supply Chain Management. Cimtek Commerce was a few weeks shy of an IPO (Initial Public Offering) when the stock market bubble burst in 2000. Cimtek did not financially survive the slow market recovery. Since that time, Lamont has continued to provide consulting services through Integrated Software Systems. You may contact Integrated Software Systems via the contact link provided above.
