The River Garden Foundation is a philanthropic organization established to provide resources for the programs and facilities to enhance the quality of life for the aged. Its primary purpose is to fund the not-for-profit River Garden system of services. As an expression of Jewish and community responsibility, the Foundation is dedicated to helping the elderly remain in control of their own lives by assuring services to the people at all levels of need and financial ability. The aim of the Foundation is to keep pace with the changing needs of the aging through programs that meet a broad array of health care needs, as well as provide a full spectrum of residential options. To ensure the success of these goals, the River Garden Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, will solicit funds from private and public sources. It will open a channel for local philanthropic endowments, and seek grants for worthy research and service projects. Sensitive to the needs of the Jewish and general communities, the Foundation will use and distribute these funds in a responsive and responsible manner. Each year, River Garden must raise over $1,000,000 to subsidize the care of residents under Medicaid for whom payments fall far short of the actual and Medicaid allowable cost of care. This amount must be raised through contributions and special events.
