Info
CME was founded in 1978 by psychiatrist John Schwartz, whose vision was to provide high-quality, practical continuing medical education and information for mental health clinicians throughout the United States. In its first decade, CME successfully delivered hundreds of educational programs from coast to coast, building a loyal following of clinicians who came to depend on CME to satisfy their medical education requirements. In 1985, CME launched Psychiatric Times, currently the top psychiatric publication in the country, which was followed two years later by the U.S. Psychiatric & Mental Health Congress, now the second largest industry trade show. Over the past 15 years, CME has expanded its educational programs to include many other therapeutic categories such as primary care, neurology, cardiology, pediatrics, oncology and more. In 1999, CME launched a medical congress with a focus on education geared toward caring for the aging population. In 2006, this congress will continue its efforts to provide the needed education on "Issues in Aging" and increase the topics covered to include a wider scope of medical issues. The 2006 theme, Issues in Medicine, will feature a broad range of topics including aging, men's health, pediatric and adolescent health and women's health. In 1999, CME was acquired by CMP Media, a division of United Business Media. CME continues to increase and adjust its educational offerings to meet the needs of healthcare practitioners from many disciplines. Formats have expanded from live meetings and publications to include online courses, teleconferences, multimedia home study courses, PDA resources and podcasts. Today, CME is widely recognized in the healthcare community as a leader in continuing medical education and information, with a distinguished network of medical advisers, faculty and staff. Since 1978, our vision has remained the same,to provide convenient, high-quality lifelong learning opportunities for healthcare practitioners.
