Info

EME has always promoted employee safety and safe work practices. This year, the push is even stronger with the appointment of David Silva as our new Safety Director. EME held a company wide meeting on May 25, 2007, allowing each employee the opportunity to participate in an informative and interactive Safety Training Day. The "Think Safety First!" mantra is stressed with each employee. The day started with a video that included personalized messages from the students at Lincoln Elementary, thanking and reminding EME team members to be safe. There was even a safety theme song performed by the students which helped to set the tone for the rest of the day. Our team members were given individual, updated Safety Handbooks which includes guidelines on our safety procedures. The EME vehicles were also updated with new Field Safety Binders to have procedures and guidelines available for situations faced in the field. An OSHA video provided by Quest Environmental & Safety Products, Inc. covered walking/working surfaces, hazardous materials and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). We then welcomed, Pat Sullivan of the Consultation, Education and Training Department at MIOSHA who reviewed scaffold and ladder safety along with general MIOSHA areas of concerns. Jason Sharp from Aramsco also reviewed using PPE in a safe manner. Mike Kelly, President of EME, surprised our team members by donning Personal Protection Equipment incorrectly and encouraged our team to find and identify what was wrong.
