The Huntington Park Police Department is dedicated to forming partnerships with the Community to solve problems. Community Policing is the guiding philosophy of the Huntington Park Police Department. Problem Oriented Policing (P.O.P.) is the strategy utilized to implement this philosophy. The Huntington Park Police Department's Mission and Values Statement listed "Community Service" as the number one "value" within the Department. The Mission and Values Statement include the phrases "We believe that teamwork between the community and the policies essential ... " and "We believe that our goals can only be accomplished ... in partnership with the community. " Working together with the community to solve problems is what community policing is all about. Members of the Huntington Park Police Department are encouraged to identify problems within their patrol beat assignments and to seek long term solutions to these problems. Instead of merely relying on traditional police responses, Officers open up P.O.P. Projects using the vast array of resources available to them to solve these problems.
