BMC Software, Inc. is a software vendor. The Company provides system and service management solutions primarily for large enterprises. Its portfolio of software solutions spans enterprise systems, applications, databases and information technology (IT) process management. BMC Software also provides maintenance and support for its products and performs software implementation, integration and education services for its customers. The Company is organized into two software business segments: Enterprise Service Management (ESM) and Mainframe Service Management (MSM). In addition, its third segment consists of its Professional Services (PS) organization. In October 2007, the Company acquired Emprisa Networks, Inc. (Emprisa), a provider of network configuration automation software. In April 2008, BMC Software completed the acquisition of BladeLogic, Inc. (BladeLogic), a provider of data center automation software. In June 2008, the Company completed the acquisition of ITM Software.
