Hopkins Technology, LLC has been developing software since the early eighties. It produced its first publicly available CD-ROM (Econ/Stats) in 1988. It is a privately owned company headquartered in Hopkins, Minnesota. Founded by Philip K. & Carol J. Dunn, the company now offers about 30 separate software titles to various markets several of which are available as subscription products on the Internet. In addition several applications are available on Internet such as EZ Wedding Planner, EZ Event Planner, Family Med Records, Santé food and recipe lookup. The mission of Hopkins Technology is to play a part in the continuing "digitization" of the vast store of knowledge and skill in the world. The company considers itself an electronic publisher with the target media Internet and CD-ROM for personal computers analogous to the paper print publisher. In the retail markets, the most popular titles are The Herbalist, Santé, Traditional Chinese Medicine , Natural Health Encyclopaedia, Amazing Universe and Food/Analyst Plus. The company maintains the worlds largest food nutrition database compiled from various government and industry sources. Most of the data come directly from food manufacturers who have supplied voluminous data since 1989. The database is published on a CD-ROM called NutriStar. Many of the large food manufacturers rely on another Hopkins Technology product: IX Ingredient Findex (registered trademark). This database is the largest and most complete listing of food ingredients. It is available exclusively on Internet. Although historically focusing on health oriented titles, Hopkins publishes titles dealing with art (Fine Arts of China) , travel (China! the Grand Tour), computer safety (Exercise Break). Hopkins has provided turnkey titles for other publishers as well including subjects such as law, diet control, energy control, communications among others.
