Great Lakes Home & Resort

Info
The company was founded in September 1969, when William Mouw, then acting general manager of the Glamour Pool Company in Holland, Michigan, bought the first factory franchise. Under its new name, Glamour Pools of the Midwest, Inc. the new company grew and prospered. Three years later Glamour Pools of the Midwest became an independent company and the name was changed to GPM Industries, Inc. Recognizing the trend in leisure products, as in-ground pools began to give way to hot tubs, GPM introduced Great Lakes SpasÔ in the early 1980's. In 2001, GPM broke ground on a new manufacturing facility in Holland, Michigan, allowing the company to proceed with several manufacturing objectives, including a more diverse product line in greater volume. In 2003 the company changed its name to Great Lakes Home & Resort, to more accurately reflect the company's strategic plan to be the leading resource for home resort products. In January 2007, Great Lakes was acquired by Emerald Spas out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. This partnership will strengthen the offerings of both companies, providing consumers with innovative design, top quality, and well-crafted, American-made portable spas across essentially all price points, from value-priced spas to made-to-order luxury spas. Each company will continue its dedication to providing their dealers with innovative products and strong marketing support. This transaction is going to bring together the resources, tools and capabilities needed to aggressively grow both product lines.
