Air Conditioning Equipment Sales, Inc. (ACES) is a manufacturers' representative representing major manufacturers of high quality air conditioning equipment, associated products and direct digital control systems. ACES also performs test and balancing, and commissioning services through Mechanical Systems Test and Balance, Inc. Its mission is the sale of these products and services to form a complete system of mechanical equipment and temperature controls. We believe when a highly experienced provider makes the sale of the equipment and the control system, the greatest value for the end user of that system is inherent. ACES was founded in 1971 by Jerry Pippin. Jerry began with the mission of providing the engineering and mechanical contracting community with a total applied and engineered system approach utilizing single source responsibility. The company was one of the first to offer this total system approach with the emphasis on service and end user satisfaction. In 1986, Scott Pippin joined the company after graduating from Old Dominion University with a B. S. degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. In 2000, Scott became president of the company overseeing operations and sales. Over the years ACES has aligned itself with manufacturers on the leading edge of the industry's technological advances. ACES has been a McQuay representative since 1971. McQuay is a world leader in the manufacture of HVAC equipment in the institutional, commercial, and industrial markets. McQuay has been bringing together innovative products and experienced engineering, sales, and service personnel since 1933. McQuay continues to bring energy efficient products to the marketplace with the Dual Compressor Centrifugal Chiller, Evaporative Condensing Package Rooftop Unit and the Magnetic Bearing Centrifugal Chiller. In 1986 ACES became the central Virginia dealer for Alerton Technologies, Inc. of Seattle, Washington. Alerton is a major manufacturer of direct digital control and building automation systems marketed worldwide through a network of independent control companies. Alerton was one of the first companies to manufacture direct digital control components when other control manufactures were still promoting pneumatic control systems. They were also one of the first to offer a full line of BACnet products that has become a standard for ASHRAE, and were a part of the inaugural BACnet installation at the Golden Gate Office Building for GSA in San Francisco. In May of 2000, ACES became a Honeywell BCI installing contractor. Honeywell Building Automation System uses LonWorks as its standard communications. ACES can now provide BACnet or LonMark controls, which ever is the owner's preference for standard communications. As part of the Honeywell agreement, ACES sells and installs Tridium software and JACE panels. In 2002, ACES opened an office in Newport News, VA to service the Tidewater area of Virginia. In 2005, the Tidewater branch moved to a larger facility in Hampton, VA. The Hampton branch now has a stocking warehouse to better serve our customers. Also in 2002, airside products such as grilles, registers, diffusers, fans, fire/smoke dampers, spiral and rectangular ductwork were added to our offerings. With the addition of these lines, ACES now offers complete system components from the central HVAC equipment to the diffuser and most everything in between. ACES purchased Mechanical Systems Test and Balance (MSTB) a National Environmental Balancing Bureau or NEBB Certified Air Balancing Company in April of 2003. MSTB is currently the second largest test and balancing firm in Central Virginia. The addition of air and water balancing and commissioning, has allowed the company to do complete turnkey retrofit projects providing equipment sales, direct digital controls, electrical installation, test and balancing and commissioning. In 2006, ACES became the Alerton dealer for the Tidewater Region of Virginia. Also in January of 2007 ACES picked up the CES Group line, which includes Mammoth, Venmar, Hunt Air, and others. These manufacturers offer a full line of custom HVAC system solutions from small custom air handlers to custom pent house mechanical rooms. The ACES sales department consists of experienced and knowledgeable individuals providing customer support from the design stages through to the end user. Our individual salesmen are dedicated to a handful of our total product offering so that product knowledge and expertise is maintained to the highest level.
