Verdoni Imports was founded in 1996, as the first wine company ever to specialize exclusively in value wines from family-owned wineries in Italy. Verdoni Imports is a reflection of the ideals and philosophy of Anthony Verdoni, who has been serving the fine wine trade for over 30 years. The company is unique insofar as Mr. Verdoni woks not only with wineries, but also with professors from the Enology School in Conegliano an at the Rauscedo grape nursery. He is also affiliated with one of Italy's best wine shops and has an export company in Canelli. Most importantly, he deals directly with grape growers and prominent enologists, contracting directly for the purchase of grapes and wine must to be used in Verdoni Imports' proprietary wines. This practice places Verdoni Imports as one of the very few remaining negociants of Italian wines and provides Mr. Verdoni with an ongoing knowledge of the Italian wine scene unmatched by other import companies. Having opened of business in July 1996, Verdoni Imports obtained Importer and New Jersey Wine Distribution Licenses, shipping its first wine order in April 1997. In the summer of 2000, Mr. Verdoni started Agenzia Verdoni, which is dedicated to custom designing Italian wine portfolios for fine wine shops. Both divisions have grown steadily and consistently. Verdoni wines are available in 18 states. Mr. Verdoni keeps busy by conducting classes. He is revising the Sommelier Executive Council Vintage Wine Book, a textbook which is in its 3rd printing.
