LV Stabler Memorial Hospital offers a geriopsychiatric program that helps Seniors regain their independence. The Senior Care department is experienced, caring and well trained in recognizing and treating patients with emotional and mental health needs. The following symptoms and behaviors may be signs that a loved one is in need of professional treatment:Suicide attempt or thoughts of ending one's lifeRapid change in nutritional or sleeping habitsImpaired or rapid decline in mental stateSeverely agitated behaviorDrug or alcohol abuseAbusive or assaultive behavior which is a risk to self or othersSelf-mulitative behaviorDelirium, disorientation, bizarre or delusional behavior HallucinationsExcessive or unreasonable fearToxic effects from psychotrophic medicationObsessive-compulsive behaviorSevere decline in ability to perform day-to-day activitiesThe goal of LV Stabler Memorial Hospital's Senior Care Team is to help patients return to as much of an independent life as possible. Under the direction of a psychiatrist, a team of physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists and other health care providers, Senior Care offers a structured plan of individual counseling, group therapy, coordinated activities and family support. Senior Care is a 13 bed facility for adults 55 years of age and older. Admission is voluntary and patients must meet the clinical admission criteria. Hospitalization is covered by Medicare and other insurance providers.
