A Quality Story How we make supplements for you: Quality Manufacturing at Every StepAs you would expect, our manufacturing facility complies with strict quality control procedures. However, what you might not expect are the ways we go above and beyond the usual practices of supplement companies. Just some of the Drug Industry GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) that we follow include: Product Efficacy Testing: Does it Work? Aside from external and in-house efficacy testing, we have a variety of laboratory methods that verify how supplements will work. Two of the main methods include: Dissolution and Disintegration Testing--Using specialized equipment, our lab mimics the conditions of the stomach (acidity, temperature, and churning action) to verify that the contents of our tablets and capsules are released and may be absorbed in the digestive tract. Active Ingredient Testing--we use High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) tests for presence and quantity of active ingredients, Gas Chromatography verifies the chemical nature of compounds, Atomic Absorption tests for presence and quantity of minerals. Immense Documentation RequirementsWritten procedures are the name of the game when it comes to quality. In fact, we have over 600 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) on file that not only provide work instructions for employees, but offer proof to the FDA that we are manufacturing our products in accordance with Drug GMP standards. Written specifications are required for each raw material used in our product line. The specification describes in detail the quality standards each lot of material must meet in order for it to be accepted by ET. Every lot of material is tested in accordance with it's approved specification. Master Batch Records must be written for every product manufactured. The Batch Record provides detailed instructions or the "recipe" for making a product and ensures every batch of product is made accurately and consistently. Product Shelf Life Must be Verified When you see those "Best By" dates on our products you know we've checked it out in advance. Our products are tested under both ambient (room temperature) and accelerated conditions to establish that they will retain their quality and ingredient potency. For unstable ingredients, we add overages (extra material) to ensure products deliver at least 100% of claimed levels throughout the entire product shelf life. Drug Manufacturer Must Have a Qualified Quality Control Organization Our laboratory conducts over 35,000 tests on 3,200 ingredients every year--that works out to about 10 tests per ingredient! The laboratory staff is top rate. They're extremely knowledgeable regarding analytical methodology for botanicals and other nutrients. In fact, you may have even read their work. After all, they've published research papers in respected peer review journals. GMP Training doesn't just stop at the Quality Control department door, however. All employees must be trained prior to working and all training must be documented. GMP's simply become part of the company's culture so that things are done right each and every time. Additionally Internal Auditing must be performed by the Quality Control unit to ensure adherence to all standard operating procedures and GMP's. And, every raw material supplier must pass the Supplier Qualification program and be approved by the Quality Control Unit Keeping it Clean: Process and Cleaning Validation Must be Performed Process validation studies ensure that the written process approved for each product performs consistently from batch to batch. Cleaning validation studies ensure that no residues from products, harmful microbes, or cleaning/sanitizing products remain on the equipment. Our cleaning validation program was modeled after the standards maintained in drug manufacturing facilities. It's hard to believe, but we're only one of a select few dietary supplement manufacturers that are in full compliance with drug GMPs. And these standards are much more complex and rigorous than those expected for dietary supplement manufacturers. See for Yourself: Certificate of ComplianceThe Enzymatic Therapy Quality Assurance department developed specific information on quality to certify our quality commitment to our customers. This includes information on bacteriological testing, BSE, vendor selection, and other pertinent topics. We are more than willing to share this certificate with both our customers and our consumers. Or, if you're planning on being in the Green Bay area, and would like to schedule a tour (especially during the off-season), simply contact us, we would be more than happy to have you as our guest.
