Established in 1996, Sunlight Mountain Resort offers backcountry guided ski tours for alpine, telemark, cross-country, and snowboarding. Join us for a half-day tour on Williams Peak, adjacent to the Sunlight Ski Area, where almost 300 inches of dry powder snow falls each winter. With a variety of terrain from steep mountain ridges to broad powder bowls, this area is some of the best backcountry skiing on the western slope. We guarantee small groups with a client to guide ratio of 4 to 1, ensuring your safety with individualized instruction and personal attention. Our guides are among the region's most experienced and knowledgeable backcountry skiers and riders and will find the best snow and terrain to suit your abilities. All guides are certified in CPR, Advanced First Aid and Avalanche Safety. They provide instruction, interpret the natural environment, and speed your learning with individualized attention. Sunlight's mission is to provide a fun and comfortable backcountry experiences. Take in the fresh air, peaceful mountain views and untracked powder of Williams Peak or Sunlight's 29 kilometers of free groomed cross-country trails. Sunlight Mountain Resort also has direct access to the White River National Forest backcountry and is a terminal point of the Sunlight-Powderhorn Trail System.
