GTC is a family-owned independent telephone company, based in Germantown, providing local telephone service to almost 3,000 subscribers in Columbia County. GTC is also the parent company of Valstar, Inc., a diversified service provider offering cable and digital television connections, long-distance service, 24-hour paging services, cellular phone service, network solutions, and Internet access in Columbia, Dutchess, and Ulster counties. Valstar also offers high-speed digital subscriber line (DSL) service, currently to customers in GTC's 537 telephone exchange.
