Info

ARC is a diversified high-technology company committed to the development and production of rocket propulsion and related products. ARC is currently the largest producer of solid propellant tactical rocket motors for the U.S. Department of Defense. ARC's experience and proven track record extends from conceptual design through production and fielded system support. ARC has developed and produced in excess of 200 different solid propellant rocket motors and gas generators since 1949. ARC has four primary facilities for our aerospace propulsion business. Our corporate headquarters along with solid propulsion development and manufacturing facilities are located in Gainesville, Virginia. Manufacture of strategic missile and space propulsion is conducted at our Orange County, Virginia facility that is located approximately 50 miles south of Gainesville. Our largest manufacturing facility is located in Camden, Arkansas. This facility is dedicated to high-volume production of solid propellant tactical rocket motors and automotive air bag inflator energetics. The MLRS, Army TACMS, Javelin, Standard Missile MK 104, and Sidewinder motors are manufactured at our Camden facility. Our liquid propulsion facility is located in Niagara Falls, New York. We conduct both development and manufacturing of liquid rocket engines at this facility. The Gainesville facility is located on 450 acres and is approximately 30 miles west of Washington, DC. Its buildings contain facilities for solid propellant rocket motor and gas generator design, development, and production. This facility also has an extensive airbreathing rocket propulsion (ramjet) development and test capability. A total floor area of 356,000 square feet provides generous space for engineering, large-scale production, and static testing of a wide range of solid propellant based propulsion products. Each of the plant's 187 buildings provides a tailored work environment and necessary safety features. Propellant mixing capability at the Gainesville facility includes two 150-gallon Baker-Perkins mixers, one Day mixer, two Hobart mixers, two 5-gallon Baker-Perkins mixers, and three 1-gallon Baker-Perkins mixers. This variety of mixer type and size allows for a complete range of propellant development and production mixing capability. The 150-gallon mix size is currently used for both the Strix and PAC-3 thruster programs, which allows "master-batching" and provides a low cost method for propellant production. Other specialized development capabilities at Gainesville include an analytical chemistry laboratory, a material physics laboratory, and an advanced static test facility. ARC's high-volume tactical rocket motor production facility is located in Camden, Arkansas. This modern rocket motor plant consists of over 1,500 acres with available adjacent property for expansion; 129 newly constructed and renovated buildings for manufacturing, testing, and storage representing over 750,000 square feet of floor space. At the heart of the facility are five 420-gallon Baker-Perkins mixers. Mixing facilities are complemented by a full array of raw material processing, motor casting, laboratory testing, rocket testing, and subscale propellant manufacturing facilities. The rocket test facilities include three static motor test centers capable of firing motors with up to 50,000 pounds of propellant and generating as much as 1,000,000 pounds of thrust. ARC has the capability to perform up to 16,000 firings per year.
