Info
Unity Christian High School offers a no-frills curriculum designed to prepare graduates for further education in the two or four year college of their choice. Over 90% of the Unity graduates go on to either a two or four year institution of higher learning. For those students whose talents are in hands-on vocations (computer maintenance and repair, food service, auto repair, collision repair, and building trades), accommodations are made during the junior and senior years to attend the Whiteside Area Career Center (WACC) in Sterling, IL. Students attending WACC must reside in the Riverbend or Morrison School Districts. Some students are involved in an on-the-job training program at area businesses. Minimum requirements for graduation are 4 years of English, 2 years of math, 2 years of science, 3.5 years of social studies, 4 semesters each of Bible and Physical Education, 1 year of computer, 1 semester of consumer education, 1 year of fine arts, 1 semester of speech, and 10 semesters of electives from math, science, social studies, Spanish, business, art, or drafting. Many colleges (Illinois State Schools) now require 3 years of science for admission. College bound students are strongly urged to take as much math and science as possible. Unity Christian offers the opportunity to participate in IHSA athletics. Sports for men include soccer, basketball, and baseball. Volleyball and basketball are offered for women. Students can participate in student government, academic bowl, band and choir.
