Mission Peak Soap Company
Info
Mission Peak Soap was established in 1995, originally as a small apiary providing local honey to Alameda County residents through health food stores in the San Francisco Bay Area. Fellow beekeeper and Author Elaine White introduced us to soap making - an art that has a long history of association with beekeeping. Many of Elaine's recipes include beeswax, which lends to soap a wonderful aroma, longevity and a certain skin-softening effect. Some of our soaps include a generous dose of real beeswax. Upon the purchase of our first 55 gallon drum of 76 degree coconut oil a few years ago, we were so uncertain of our ability to use it all before it expired that we added it to our fledging website as an ingredient available to other soapmakers. It met with a warm reception, and the "soapmakers supply" side of the business was born. Today, most of the bees are gone as we've had difficulty finding a suitable location for our insect friends in our metropolitan area. However, we continue to make a fair amount of soap for wholesale customers, a little for retail, and sell to other artisans a selection of the basic supply items necessary to make a nice bar of soap or lotion. On the soap side, We wouldn't claim that the soap we make is head-and-shoulders above that of another competent soapmaker. Our focus is on making good, wholesale soap to customer specs, with any ingredients, in any color(s), with any essential oils or fragrance. On the supply side, we use ourselves nearly everything we sell, and we personally examine, sniff, taste (when appropriate), weigh, test, obtain specs on, everything we buy and sell. If it looks or smells odd - it goes back to the vendor, not into your order! We appreciate your business. We have found that the soap and soap-supplies business isn't a short road to riches , but It has kept the wolf away from the door these past couple of years and for that, in our most humble way, we thank you.
